A one-day excursion by plane from Beijing to Xian. We visited the Terracotta Army and the City Wall. The city wall is very interesting and well preserved.

The Terracotta Army is one of the most interesting sites we have seen in China. Simply wonderful! The figures include warriors, chariots, horses, officials. Total over 8,000 soldiers, 130 chariots with 520 horses and 150 cavalry horses. This is the link of my photogallery: http://fotoviaggiando.altervista.org/cina/terracotta/terracotta.html
The fortifications of Xi'an represent one of the oldest and best preserved Chinese city walls. The wall is very impressive: it's 12 m height, and 15-18 m wide at the base and 12-14 m at the top. The existing wall was started by the Ming Dynasty in 1370. You can walk on the top and have a nice view: a mix of the middle-age fortification with its towers and the town with its modern skyline.

The Terracotta Warriors are one of the most interesting archeological sites of China, and of the world. The Terracota Army was discovered in 1974 near the Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor. From 1987 it is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. For me has been a great emotion to visit this site.
