Guilin shopping The lovely tourist city Guilin is able to offer you a unique and interesting shopping experience with its numerous small streets, flee markets.

Clothes & shoes

The Guilin Department Store at the Zhongshan Zhong Lu and Japanese operated Niko Niko Do offer good quality Clothes and shoes. The Zhengyang Walking Street close to the center square is overflowing with small boutiques. The market under the center square called "Little Hong Kong" is a maze of alleys with lots of stall offering clothes and accessories at very cheap prices. The market inside the Bagui Building opposite to the Central Square also offers clothes and bags at reasonable prices. Be prepared to bargain at the markets.

Souvenir & Art & Craft's

The night market on Zhongshan Zhong Lu is the best place to pick up souvenirs and trinkets. The market is available from 8:pm to midnight when half of the main street is blocked to cars for the market. The colorful market offers some products unique to southern Guilin shopping China such as the ethnic dresses, ethnic minority music instruments, paper fan, bamboo carvings and jade pieces. Many locals mingle with visitors, maybe not to buy but to enjoy the atmosphere. The real fun of the market may come in finding some souvenirs or in the experience of haggling and hustling with the locals.

Landscape Painting

Guangxi Normal University Art Shop: This art shop is an extravaganza of masterpieces collected over a long period of time; some of the paintings are centuries old. It contains three exhibition halls with paintings from masters from different periods and from different painting schools.

Painted Fan

The small town of Fuli close to Yangshuo is specializes in painted fan making. A vast majority of locals in the town are involved in this ancient craft. These fans are excellent quality and look beautiful, decorated with painted flowers, birds, insects and traditional Chinese girls. They range from the small hand fan to large canopies and can make very good wall decorations.

These fans are widely available in Yangshuo and Guilin, however the best place to buy is in the small shops in the town.
