Chinese Pinyin: Xī Zàng

Location: Tibet is located at latitude between 26°52′and 36°32′N and longitude between 78°24′ and 99°06′E. Tibet borders on Qinghai Province and Xinjiang Region to the north, Yunnan to the southeast and India, Nepal, Sikkim, Burma and so on to the west.

Area: Tibet, which covers an area of 1.22 million square kilometers, is the second largest region of China.

Terrain: Tibet is located on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau which enjoys a reputation of "World Roof". The average altitude of Tibet is 4000 meters. The Everest, which is the highest peak in the world, stands on the south of Tibet. The altitude of Everest is 8848.8 meters.

History of Tibet: Tibet has a history of 2000 years. In 7th century AD, Songtsan Gambo defeated more than 10 tribes and founded the Tsanpo Dynasty. Meanwhile, the Lis unified the Central Plains of China and founded the Tang Dynasty. In order to show the friendship to Tsanpo, the princess Wencheng Married Songtsan Gambo. The story of Songtsan Gambo and princess Wencheng is being passed from generation to generation.

For over a thousand years, Tibet was being ruled by successive Chinese dynasties After the foundation of People’s Republic of China, the slavery was abolished in Tibet. In 1965, the Tibet Autonomous Region was founded.
