Day by Day Itinerary: - top -

Day 1

Place & Transport: Shanghai to Chongqing to Yangtze, Flight No. TBA
Today's Activities: Airport to Cruise pier transfer (Chongqing), Cruise pier Transfer (Chongqing), Panda Room in Chongqing Zoo, Ciqikou Old Town, Hanging Village, , Board the ship from 9:00am to 10:00am and departs Chongqing at 11am. Shore excursion to Fengdu Ghost City.(Pre-overnight accommodation is not included)

Meals: Chinese Lunch

- Panda Room in Chongqing Zoo: Here you can see Giant pandas, Lesser pandas, Golden hair monkeys, South China Tigers and some other national protected animals.
- Ciqikou Old Town: This lively old area has been partly restored, and remains an authentic and busy community. The old wooden houses and narrow streets furthest from the river are mostly unimproved, closer to the river there are craft and souvenir shops, teahouses and music, and lots of local food and snacks. The locals certainly love their food – this is a good chance to try some.
- Hanging Village: 13 floors of shops cling to the cliff face beside the river, built in traditional style. There are arts and crafts, clothing, modern shops and of course a lot of food and snack stalls and souvenirs. Much of it is under cover, and there's a theatre at the top which puts on some spectacular shows, both traditional and modern.

--Fengdu is where the devil lives, according to Chinese legend. They say that spirits go to heaven, and evil goes to Fengdu. The town is overlooked by Ming Shan Hill, home of Tianzi, the King of the Dead. The whole place has an eerie feel to it with deserted streets, tower blocks, empty shops and banks. The only people here are those who make a living from visiting cruise boats.

Day 2

Place & Transport: Yangtze
Today's Activities: Shore excursion to Lesser Three Gorges.

Meals: Breakfast, Chinese Lunch, Chinese Dinner

--The Lesser Three Gorges are the three separate valleys of the Daning River: Dragon Gate Gorge, Misty Gorge and Emerald Gorge. These lie on the lower reaches of the Daning, which flows into the Yangtze. The gorges are truly spectacular. Sheer cliffs soar up towards the sky from the brown-green water. Mountain tops hover above the ribbon of mist, disconnected from their roots. Its "subtle mountains, clear waters, pretty rocks, dangerous rapids, sharp turns, fantastic caves, and stalactites in various shapes" create the timeless beauty that you see in Chinese landscape paintings. Monkeys, mandarin ducks and other water birds can be seen loitering on big boulders in this area. In addition to the wonderful natural scenery there are a number of historical places of interest along the way, such as a suspended coffin, boat coffin, and remains of ancient plank walkway.

Day 3

Place & Transport: Yangtze
Today's Activities: Shore excursion to Three Gorges Dam Site.

Meals: Breakfast, Chinese Lunch, Chinese Dinner

--Three Gorges Dam, the largest water conservancy project ever undertaken by man and it has been a dream for several generations of Chinese people. The construction of the dam formally began in 1994. The body of the dam was completed in 2003, and the whole construction will be competed in 2009. It will be 2,335 meters long, 185 meters high, 18 meters wide on the top and 130 meters wide at the bottom.The tourists can get access to the top of the dam and enjoy different kinds of photo opportunities.

Day 4

Place & Transport: Yangtze
Today's Activities: From 12:00 noon/3:00 pm shore excursion of Wuhan, visiting the Hubei Provincial Museum.

Meals: Breakfast, Chinese Lunch, Chinese Dinner

--The museum was built in 1953. In the museum the most precious collection is a complete set of 65 ritual bells of different sizes,which were made in the Chunqiu & Zhanguo dynasties(more than 2200 yeaers ago).Enjoy the amazing ritual bells concert.

Day 5

Place & Transport: Yangtze
Today's Activities:  From 9:00 am to 8:00 pm shore excursion to Huangshan ("Yellow Mountain").

Meals: Breakfast, Chinese Lunch, Chinese Dinner

--known as "the loveliest mountain in China", famous for its magnificent scenery made up of many granite peaks and rocks emerging out of clouds.
(Jiuhuanshan or "Mountain of the Nine Lotuses" may be substituted if weather or road conditions do not permit a visit to Huangshan.)

Day 6

Place & Transport: Yangtze
Today's Activities: Full day tour of Nanjing including Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum and a Qing Dynasty style Bazaar surrounding a Confucian Temple;
9:00 pm Leave Nanjing for Shanghai
Meals: Breakfast, Chinese Lunch, Chinese Dinner

--Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, the building was designed to be more impressive than those of the emperors whom the father of the Chinese republic overthrew. The mausoleum, 158 meters above sea level, has 392 steps and a five-meter-high statue, and is well worth visiting.

Day 7

Place & Transport: Yangtze to Shanghai
Today's Activities: Disembark at Shanghai Wusongkou wharf at 10am.
Meals: Breakfast

    Hotel fees are based on two people sharing one room with twin beds.
    All hotels as listed in the above itinerary serve daily western or Chinese breakfast. All rooms are air-conditioned with private facilities unless specified.
  • Yangtze River Cruises:
    The price quoted for a Yangtze River Cruise includes all meals onboard, and all land excursions including the smaller cruise fee to Lesser Three Gorges or Shennong Stream. (Optional land excursions are available for a few ships which will be specially noted.) The price does not include any incidental charges, including room service, mini bar, laundry, and drinks and bar charges, tipping, etc.
    The Pre-boarding Fee includes overnight accommodations on the ship the night before departure and breakfast in the morning.
