World Cultural and Natural Heritages in China

4 Chinese heritages meet the requirements of being listed as World Cultural and Natural Heritages by UNESCO. They are Mount Taishan (1987), Yellow Mountain (1990), Mount Emei and Leshan Giant Buddha (1992) and Mount Wuyi (1999).

Year of Recognition: 1987
Location (City): Taian, Shandong Province

Mount Taishan is the most important one of 5 Chinese Sacred Mounts System. (The other four are Mount Huashan in Shaanxi Province, Mount Hengshan in Shanxi Province, Mount Hengshan in Hunan Province and Mount and Mount Songhan in Henan Province). “Tai” in Chinese means peace. Every year lots of people climb Mount Taishan to pray for fortune. The highest peak of Mount Taishan is 1545 meters.

Mount Huangshan (Yellow Mountain)

Location (County): Huangshan City, Anhui Province

Yellow Mountain is a blend of the majesty of Taishan Mountain, the ruggedness of Hushan Mountain, the cloud of Hengshan Mountain, the flying waterfall of Lushan Mountain, the bizarre rock of Yandangshan Mountain and the beauty of E'mei Mountain. Especially, Mt.Huangshan is famous for its four supreme sights: strange pines, grotesque rocks, the sea of clouds and hot springs in the world. Leshan Giant Buddha

Location (County): Songpan, Sichuan Province

Huanglong is located in Songpan County, Sichuan Province. It covers an area of 700 square kilometers. The attractions, including waterfalls, jokuls, virgin forests and canyons, focus in the Huanglong Valley which is 3.6 kilometers in length. The shape of the valley is like a golden Chinese dragon. Mount Wuyi
Mount Wuyi

Year of Recognition: 1999
Location (Province): Fujian

Mount Wuyi, which is located in the northwest of Fujian Province, covers an area of 999.75 square kilometers. Mount Wuyi is famous for the biodiversity conservation. The largest sub-tropical original forests are located in the west of Mount Wuyi besides, 3278 species of plants and 5110 species of animals live on Mount Wuyi. The relic of the capital city of Minyue King, which has a history of 2000 years, makes Mount Wuyi more attractive.
